Castle Socerb
Castle Socerb or Castle Strmec offers a beautiful view of Trieste, the Gulf of Trieste and Slovenian Istria. Due to its strategic position, a fort already emerged during Illyrian times. The castle was gradually fortified during 13th century. Its current image is only a modest memory of past times, due to various wars and constant changing of ownership.
Wine Fountain Marezige
Slovenian Istria is known for its vineyards and wines. Among the most famous are Refošk and Malvazija. The wine fountain in Marezige will offer you the opportunity to taste 4 different wines with an incredible view over Koper and the Vanganel Valley. Škocijanski zatok Nature Reserve
Škocjan Bay was once a sea bay, which was slowly filled by the rivers Badaševica and Rižana and became swampy. This is the largest semi-saline wetland in Slovenia, where animal and plant diversity give it a unique stamp.

Ankaran’s Shell Dune or better know by the locals as The Shell Cemetery is part of the coast where you can find a huge variety of shells and snails. The shell dune is 170m long and is located between Ankaran and the Port of Koper. It was created by deepening the seabed for the needs of the 2nd pier of the Port of Koper in the 1990s. (read more…)
Krkavče stone
The elongated and roughly worked 2.5m high stone is no longer standing in its original place, but it was moved from its immediate vicinity. Carved human images with wide-open arms and a beamed ball on their heads have long stirred the imagination of passers-by. The rich oral tradition and customs have been only partially preserved to this days.
